Ingredients

  • 2 cups dry penne pasta

  • 3 tbsp. olive oil

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 ¾ cups tomato sauce

  • ½ cup heavy cream

  • ¼ cup milk

  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated

  • ½ tsp. Italian seasoning

  • ¼ tsp. white pepper powder

  • ½ tsp. salt

Directions

  • Fill a pot with water and place it over medium heat. Once the water starts to boil, season it generously with salt. Add dry penne pasta and cook for 10 minutes or until al Dente.
  • Once done, drain the pasta and set it aside for later use.
  • Place a pan over medium heat and add olive oil. Once the oil heats up, add chopped onion and cook for 3 minutes or until they are translucent.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for a minute until fragrant.
  • Add tomato sauce and cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until it is reduced and moisture evaporates.
  • Take the pan off the heat and add heavy cream in small intervals. Continue to mix.
  • Once you have added all the heavy cream, place the pan back over heat.
  • Pour milk and mix well and season with Italian seasoning, pepper, and salt.
  • Add grated parmesan cheese and cooked pasta. Toss until everything is well combined and the sauce coats the pasta. Once done, serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use any pasta shape you like for this recipe.
  • You can add chicken or turkey to this recipe as well. Leftover meat works well too.
  • Add vegetables like broccoli, bell pepper, and corn for more nutrition. You can add mushrooms as well.
  • If you want vegan tomato pasta, replace heavy cream with coconut cream and milk with any plant-based milk. You can also use vegan Parmesan cheese.
