Ingredients

  • 2 cups dry macaroni (large elbow)

  • ½ lb. ground beef

  • ½ lb. ground pork

  • 1 medium white onion finely chopped

  • 4 garlic cloves minced

  • 3 tomatoes finely chopped 

  • 2 tbsp. tomato paste

  • 2 cups beef stock

  • ¼ cup whole milk

  • 1 tsp. onion powder

  • 1 tsp. garlic powder

  • ½ tsp. cayenne powder

  • 1 tsp. herb De Provence

  • 1 cup cream cheese

Directions

  • Place a large pot over medium heat. Add ground beef and pork. Break the meat with a wooden spoon and cook it for 5 minutes. Drain excess fat from the pot.
  • Add onion, minced garlic, herb de Provence, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. Mix well and cook for 3 minutes. 
  • Add tomato paste and diced tomatoes. Mix well and cook for 2 more minutes or until tomatoes soften up. 
  • Pour beef stock and add dried macaroni. 
  • Bring the mixture to a boil and reduce the heat. Cover the pot and let it simmer for 5 more minutes or until the pasta is done and the liquid almost dries up.
  • Remove the lid, and pour milk and cream cheese. Mix well.
  • Grease the 9×13 casserole baking dish with olive oil or butter.
  • Pour half of the pasta mixture into the dish and spread it evenly across its area. Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese on the pasta mixture. Add the remaining pasta mixture and mix it with the remaining cheddar cheese. 
  • Place the baking dish in a preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees F.
